Bill: Decentralization of Higher Education
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberty Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2456
Description[?]:
This proposal aims at cutting down the size of the National Education Department. Realizing that the central government should be more concerned with the education of our young, that a bit of friendly competition between the Provinces of Zardugal will benefit the standard of Higher Education and that the central government shouldn't dictate how adults educate themselves, the Liberty Party has proposed this measure. |

Message | "While this party agrees with many of the decentralisation initiatives of the Liberty Party, this party cannot tolerate the decentralisation of the higher education system. In many instances, competition is in the best interest of every citizen. However, it is this party's belief that education is not one of them. Every one should be guaranteed education, in the hopes of self-improvement. Should education be privatised, this will often leave out the lowest brackets on the economic scale. Why should a private institution admit a student from a poor family whose family is unlikely to be able to pay tuition?" -Dame Frances Moody, Directory Member |

Message | As of now if the national budget for education goes belly up all post secondary schools do the same. Through local government funding of post secondary schooling lack of funds in one area would still allow citizens to get education in another, this competition gives citizens a higher degree of choice in the matter. |

Message | Exactly. This is not a privatization initiative, education will still be in the power of the state, but students will experience the benefit of competition between provinces. |

Message | "The only way the education budget will go belly up is if the Directory allows it to. Which, so far, it has. The Directory has failed to approve either of the budgets submitted by the Minister of Finance, revealing a carelessness on the part of many of the nation's parties." -Dame Frances Moody, Directory Member |

Random fact: It is possible for a player to transfer ownership of a character or a royal house to another player. This should be done in a public way, such as on the Character Transfers thread, so that if a dispute arises in the future, Moderation can be pointed towards evidence of the transfer. |
