Bill: Civilised Schools Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Progressive Socialist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2457

Description[?]:

Many parts of our school system are unfit for a modern civilised society. For too long local governments have been allowed to permit violence to children, nationalistic indoctrination and deny students sexual education. We need to change this and pull our schools out of the middle ages.

PSP speaker on education and culture

MessageI don't really care about article one, to be honest, but, I'm a huge patriot, so article two is unacceptable...but I support article 3. I can't decide how to vote

MessageRespect is something that can't be forced - it can only be earned. Forcing students to "respect" (a respect that will be pure hipocrsy) the national anthem does not induce real respect for the nation in the students - it induces disrespect.

Furthermore - isn't it disrespectful towards the national anthem to believe that students hate it so much that it is necessary to use force to get it respected?

MessageWe're on the fence about article 1, and leaning towards disapproval of article 3 (should be schools' or teachers' or at least local governments' prerogative), but we are filled with approval for article 2.

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar).

Random quote: "I am loyal to the ideas, not to the institutions." - Cyro Aquila, former Selucian politician
