Bill: Live Longer - Work Longer

Details

Submitted by[?]: South Shore Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2459

Description[?]:

With the advancements that have been made in the fields of medicine, nutrition and technology, the days of 65 years old being retirement time have passed. The population continues to grow older and we cannot have a good portion of our citizens out of work due to an arbitrary line in the sand that was ordained hundreds of years ago. The work force is involved in more mental challenges, rather than the back breaking work that made 65 year olds obsolete...they are also fitter...both mentally and physically. I propose that we move the retirement age to 70 and capatilize on at least a portion of the 20 years most people will be out of the workforce and looking for govermental aide.

Random quote: "The first step in freeing yourself from social restrictions is the realization that there is no such thing as a 'safe' code of conduct, one that would earn everyone's approval. Your actions can always be condemned by someone, for being too bold or too apathetic, for being too conformist or too nonconformist, for being too liberal or too conservative. So it's necessary to decide whose approval is important to you." - Harry Browne
