Bill: Strike Law & Justice System Reforms
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Socialist Workers' Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2459
Description[?]:
The Police Officers' Union of Hobrazia is collaborating with us to bring this issue to the attention of the legislature. Criminals are beginning to acquire high-powered assault rifles from various illegal sources. What good are tasers against armed-to-the-teeth criminals? Also, the police bureaucracy is overbloated. We need to put police departments under control of the municipal councils, and let cities and counties police themselves in times of peace. The Grocers' Union of Hobrazia is petitioning us to strike on behalf of the policemen. |

Message | This will lessen the authoritarian power of the Second Imperial Republic. As such the April '57 Movement supports this legislation. |
Date | 08:50:00, September 21, 2007 CET | From | We Say So! Party | To | Debating the Strike Law & Justice System Reforms |
Message | This will lessen the overall ability for the police to operate as a cohesive institution nationwide whilst increasing bureaucratic expenditure as each Municipal area has to reproduce the same bureaucracy as each other increasing costs and so reducing front line police expenditure. We would also point out that there are NO large numbers of high powered assault rifles entering this Country, criminally or otherwise, and that arming our police forces with high powered weapons sets a poor precedent and will increase risks to the public rather than the opposite. As for our right honourable colleagues from the '57 Movement's statement that this will lessen authoritarian powers, how would arming the police with standard firearms lessen authoritarianism. It is more likely to cause the public to be in fear of the police rather than interact with them. |

Message | "This will lessen the authoritarian power of the Second Imperial Republic. As such the April '57 Movement supports this legislation" How would arming the police with firearms lessen authoritarian power?. We have our specialist firearm squads to deal with heavily armed criminals. The average thief isn't going to have anything more than a kitchen knife or maybe a large garden rake. As the WSS!P say's this will lessen the overall ability for the police to operate as a cohesive institution if we leave the operation and funding of the police department to local goverments. |

Random fact: The people in your nation don't like inactive parties. When you often abstain from voting for a bill, they will dislike your party and your visibility to the electorate will decrease significantly. Low visibility will means you are likely to lose seats. So keep in mind: voting Yes or No is always better than Abstaining. |
