Debate
These messages have been posted to debate on this bill:

Message | In both cases, we consider these might be steps in constructive directions... although they are babysteps. We may be open to suggestion here. |
Date | 23:40:33, September 27, 2007 CET | From | Democratic Workers' Party and CTUL List | To | Debating the Child Protection |
Message | We support fully Article 2. Article 1 we hold reservations about going back upon previous voting; whilst we do not in theory oppose the proposal, we do not wish to be seen as compromising our progressive and assertive agenda. We therefore petition the LP to divide this bill into two in the interests of Article 2. |

Message | This is a difficult issue, and one in wich it is easy to make a stand without really getting to grips with the facts. This Bill would make any media depicting non-consensual sex potentially illegal, if they could be described as 'pornographic'. This is regardless of the context, and the consent of all involved. Whilst we strongly believe that there is rarely justification for such material, the fact that we cannot say never a justification means we have to vote nay. We would like to see a revised Bill drafted, with the same Articles, but specific details of context and exemption included. |
