Message | Because religious institutions can not be trusted to fairly use it for charity. That is they could give it all to only specific people based on religion and call it charity. Furthermore taxing all religion promotes rational thinking and Atheism. |
Date | 01:16:14, September 28, 2007 CET | From | Sekowan Communist Party | To | Debating the Religious Charity Tax Reform |
Message | Very few churches force tithes, and so much of their income is from "charitable donations." There are thousands of non-profit, non-religious charities that can spend the money much more effectively than churches. |
Date | 06:37:35, September 28, 2007 CET | From | Plato's Republican Party | To | Debating the Religious Charity Tax Reform |
Message | Additionally, we in the PRP feel that religions are poor representatives of society as they are concerned primarily with the spread of the religion and the well-being of the church. They cannot be expected to use charity to help the general public, and they should be taxed so that at least a portion of their income can be used to that end. |
