Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2463
Description[?]:
The defense of our nation should be entirley in the hands of our government. While the PSFVP accepts the advantages of a free market society, in the case of the military, with the prospect of war in the future, we should have control over all aspects of the defense industry. This will also have the advantage of weakening the lobbying power of private efense companies, who profit off wars that hurt our citizens. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The nation's defence industry.
Old value:: The state owns national defence industries but these exist alongside privately owned defence industries.
Current: Defence industries are privately owned and not subsidised.
Proposed: The state owns all defence industries.

Message | 1. Defence companies provide products for more than just the government, they also produce the claymore rifles and Uzi's that the average citizen (who is'nt psychotic or having a violent criminal record) can buy. 2. We like it how it is with the government owning the defence industries that produce our militaries weapons and private ones existing to provide for the average citizen. |
Date | 09:23:06, September 29, 2007 CET | From | Plato's Republican Party | To | Debating the Military Ownership reform bill |
Message | Plato's Republicans feel that the lobby of the defense industry carries little sway in the Government. We have a policy of relying as little as possible on private companies for national defense, and the vast majority of our equipment etc. comes from the state-owned industry. Allowing private companies to produce small arms for the average citizen frees the Government-run industry from the responsibility, allowing it to focus solely on the more important task of national defense. |
