Bill: Educational Responsibility of December 2462
Details
Submitted by[?]: Libertà Parti
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2464
Description[?]:
Private primary and secondary schools are banned, but private universities are allowed so long as they hold up to regulation. So, which should it be? Should private education be allowed or outlawed? It's a bit inconsistent to have both. Although we are proposing for unregulated private schools allowed for primary and secondary education, and allowing private preschool, and for the deregulation of private higher education (the invisible hand of the free market will make sure these schools are as good or better than public schools), we are also open to the converse: banning private higher education. Which should we do? Allow private, unregulated education at all levels? Or ban private higher education? We are open to compromise of either passing the bill as it is, allowing heavily regulated private education at all levels, or banning the current private higher education. |

Message | No to all three articles. Private enterprise will always have a loyalty to the LIK, whereas government managed education has a duty to the people, first, foremost, and solely. |

Message | And as a response to the AMPS: Even if the private enterprise's sole responsibility is the LIK, if they do not serve the people better than public education does, than they will not get these LIKs. So, in order to get their "almighty LIK," they must first serve the people. |

Message | The Liberta Party make a valid point, however whilst the general standard of education from private enterprise may be high, leaving aside the question as to whether providing the poor with less choice is morally justified, when push comes to shove, it is the bottom line, not the children, that will get loyalty. |

Message | This is a good argument, but the national opinions of the Likatonian people moderately support capitalism. Yet, they also like big government, so there is no way I would attempt to take away their social infrastructure. However, I think we should give it a chance and see how the Likatonians like it. If they think that the private education is not good for Likatonia, then we'll find out when they vote my part down to the bottom. |
