Bill: Contracts and Space Exploration
Details
Submitted by[?]: Society of Sadists
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2098
Description[?]:
The SoS propose an overhaul in our nation's space programme. As we envisage working with the international community on peaceful developments in space, and wish to take a leading role in this, we want to ensure our budget remains under control and our management is effective. We propose opening space to the private sector. Who may bid for government contracts, and let the market keep them competetive. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy towards space exploration.
Old value:: The government shall fully fund a state-owned space agency which controls all national space-related activity.
Current: Space exploration and use shall be totally unregulated.
Proposed: The government shall operate a space agency that contracts with and oversees private space-exploration companies.

Message | Where do the other parties stand on this? We wish to enable our nation to take a big role in space without "astronomical" costs. |

Message | Nice pun, SoS. Bringing in the private sector is a good idea, methinks. Private spaceflights and the like could be fun, and bringing in other organisations would presumably open up the talent pool for the field. |
