Message | We feel 400 seats might make the divisions in this House easier to spot. However, we would like to reach consensus on this issue. What are the thoughts of other parties on this proposed change? |

Message | Obviously this would mean 200 votes for a normal proposal to pass and 200 for it to be defeated. It givea a clearer picture of the divisions in the House. It also means that the people have more democratic representatives to speak for them. |

Message | But why the 400 hundred number? |
Date | 15:47:42, August 20, 2005 CET | From | Social-Liberal Party | To | Debating the Act increasing the number of seats in the Parliament |
Message | First of all, we felt the need to increase the legislature so as to be more representative, considering population growth and the increasingly complex nature of Beluzian society. The suggested number can be divided into two subsections of a hundred on each side, so it comes down to hundreds when divided by two. This is impossible for 500, and the number closest is 600 which - in the opinion of the SLP - would make the legislature too large. The 400 seats arrangement is also used in the Republic of Aloria and the Republic of Hobrazia, to the satisfaction of the citizens of these nations. |
