Bill: Help Our Youths
Details
Submitted by[?]: Progressive Marxist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2099
Description[?]:
This would help to establish youth sport-clubs (think YMCA) to help the poorer children in inner city or rural areas. This can help bring a community together and also reduce the number of children out on the streets, perhaps even eliminating the need for that police state curfew. Also, as most industrialized nations we have high obesity rates due to inactivity among our children and higher intake of fatty foods. However, look at Japan. They have very low obesity rates due to an abundance of free, publicly owned sport clubs. We suggest that a national system of sports clubs will be founded. It will be overseen by local officials to ensure that it helps to bring the community closer together and can respond to specific circumstances there. |

Message | There already are publicly funded sports. It's the provinces responsibility. |

Message | Yes, local governments fund them rather than national government, but publically funded ones already exist along with private ones. WE see no need for this change |

Message | Pooprer regions have to oversee the funding. I would rather see one where any child, be it in the inner city or poor rural area has a chance to go to a free sports club. |

Message | Local officials will oversee the management, while the national government will fund the organizations, tying the community. It will help to bring jobs to impoverished areas, while increasing the amount of community involvement. |

Message | Maybe it is simly my interpretation of things but to me at least, just because something is publically funded does not necessarily make it free. My local leisure centre is funded by my local council but I still have to pay to use it. Therefore I do not believe that your assertion that by the government funding these clubs makes them free - it doesn't say that. The only argument for publicaly funded ones is that it ensures uniform provision particularly in poorer areas which is something that I can understand, though I still think that the current system is fine - leave these decisions up to local people. |

Message | The publicly funded one near here is free, with donations welcome. You have to pay for arranging events and things like that. It is publicly funded and it is a good place. Besides, even if it isn't free it will be nominal price and cheaper than the ones around here. |
