Bill: Farm Subsidy Bill of 2098.

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal-Progressive Union

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2098

Description[?]:

To relieve some burden off the government who often doesn't know what is good for and who often has no training in farming, we believe the local governments know their farms better than the government does. Therefore it should be those who know what is best for farmers to decide how much to subsidize for that farm. Also I belive this will increase productivity in our constitencies such as Stormridge and Zargundia where unemployment is high and productivity low. Three out of our 5 regions rank in the bottom 50 in the world for highest unemployyment rate. This is one step to rectify that . This will have little effect on low income families due to the welfare laws recently passed.

MessageThe old way just wasn't working. High unemployment, poor farming productivity, and also a huge income gap between the top earners and the bottom. Our economy is struggling.

MessageWe disagree. Allowing Local Governments to craft farm subsidies begin the splitting of a Country-wide agricultural policy and can effect a negative move in production in areas where local Government policy differs from another Constituency.

MessageBut the local goverments are more in touch with the local farms than the government is. If a farm is successfull their not going to alter anything. Our current policy isn't working, meaning the national isn't doing it's job as well as it should. THe local governmnet are not going to toss farmers out of their homes, it just gives control to the local citizens and government who live near these farms.

MessageA low income famr in different regions may receive wast fluctuations of income. This can't be right - no 'postcode lottery' on subsidy!. We're against.
