Bill: Departure from the Accord

Details

Submitted by[?]: Red Anarchy Faction

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2471

Description[?]:

NOTING the distance between this corner of Majatra and francophonic states,

EMPHASISING the lack of prominent Francophonic culture here,

NOTING the possibility of time being spent of regional needs and improvements instead of speaking a language little used here,

RECITING that the only Majatran member of this Accord, Jelbania, has disagreed with the Accord on frequent accounts and would be better sought as an ally by herself,

We hereby suggest and put forward the departure of this Majatran soil from this spurious Seleyan treaty.

Message"This is not a Seleyan treaty, it is a treaty that has consistently been used for the protection of Beiteynu and has forged strong links between our nation and others. The "party with the name I wont speak because it is written in an imaginary language" makes false claims that this is aimed to impose Francophonic culture on our people when really it has done nothing of the sort and has in no way infringed on our cultural identity, withdrawing from the Accord would be the biggest mistake Beiteynu could make."

MessageWe are not sure whether to laugh or to weep at the 'reasons' given for this proposal...It is a simple matter to refute them all however:

The first 3 points have nothing to do with the treaty, the Accord imposes no requirement on members to adopt 'french'.

The 4th point is factually incorrect, Cobura is also an Accord member and Wantuni has been in the past (both countries, last time we looked, were in Majatra). Certainly, not all Accord nations have agreed on all things in the past, we regard this as healthy. The Accord has never sought to coerce member nations in any way.

To summarise, not one good reason to leave the Accord has been presented, Accord nations (particulary Kanjor and Rildanor) have actively assisted Beiteynu in the past.

This proposal was put forward by a party which is obviously the puppet of your eastern neighbour Pontesi. Ask yourself this, who benefits if this passes?...Not Beiteynu!

Message"The Accord is a union of French Culture. It promotes French Culture. There is no French Culture remaining here for it to promote. It is a matter of place. This treaty seeks to expand something here that does not exist here. It is spurious here. Not imposing French culture? You come here to speak of it where you have no place to, even with the appropriate francophonic arrogance.

Not one good reason that doesn't stand to break the shackles of your oppression of Squibblian peoples, the Pharoah's brethren, the Robots and the Pntékai has been presented - of course you don't like it. What of Cobura? It is welcome to succumb to your insidious designs if it sees fit. You support the old caging of our people and we will have it no more.

We bid the Union of South Seleya an apt and appropriate adieu and bid bon voyage to the Carnot Engine that has ensnared northern Majatra for so long."

MessageDo you have the slightest evidence for your absurd statements? The Accord is a mutual defence pact, twice troops from Accord nations have assisted Beiteynu. Never have we tried to impose french culture anywhere.

It is not 'arrogance' to present our views on this important matter to the Knesset, it is our duty, both to the people of Beiteynu and indeed to peace loving peoples throughout Terra.

MessageThe Accord has little to do with the French culture and more about mutual defence and cooperation. This is a mistake that will haunt Beiteynu in the near future. Also, it should be noted that any Accord member reserves the right to veto a nation's entry and re-entry to alliance, which includes Beiteynu. We strongly urge the parties to vote against.

Message"Perhaps our treatment of parties who disagreed with us has been to attack said party, but that is the nature of politics. In any case, we have never actively persecuted any Beiteynuese political party. But, perhaps, if your response to criticism is to sell out our country for pure schadenfreude amusement at the first opportunity, then that critcism was well deserved.

If you actually cared to look into the facts, you would see we are not spreading rumors; Pontesi has a bill to declare war upon us passing through their College as we speak."

Message"The Pntékai have known pain and suffering. We have nothing left to fear, let alone have it bleated at us by sheep in either Hebrew or French.

There is no destruction of civilised culture to be had... the fear of your own destruction was carried brilliantly by the speech from the Mizrachi. I applaud their subversive honesty.

Voices of the oppressed, voices of the overworked and voices of moderate reason have sided with this and stand as allies of the Pntékai. Those who stand with us shall not be harmed and shall be granted a land of their own as we have promised. They shall be self-determinate and protected. Those who oppose shall eventually be swept aside in a Wind of Fire. I came to the helm of this Dynasty as a leader of my kind. I now stand as a prophet of the emancipation of the oppressed in this darkened corner of Majatra."

Message"At least now we know the full extent of the traitorous bargain the PPP, RNP and MVRP have made. We had always assumed them to be purely ignorant and honestly niave of your true intentions. The knowledge that they intend to sell the land of every Jewish person in Tadraki and Endlid from under them puts them in a very different light.

You may be able to fool hollow parties with empty rethoric and false promises about emancipation, but we are not so soon to forget our own history. The greatest mistake of the Sixth Homeland has been to listen to the traitorous voices amougst us. We have allowed evil to foster in the East for too long, and now we must face a long fight to eradicate it.

Anyone who wants to leave Beiteynu, has permission to leave.
Whoever wants to make peace, can make peace.
Whoever wants to fight, get ready."

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there.
