Message | The private sector help provide more classroom space and teachers than the state alone can afford in Beluzia. A bill like this would mean overcrowding state schools and denying some university and college berths. We urge the Communist Party to increase the efficiency of the public system, rather than close private institutions. |

Message | I find it difficult to separate the real world from the game world, considering many of our parties, including your's, have real-world figures. I have also seen posts that say things about "the world Earth" and things to that effect. I didn't know this wasn't encouraged. |

Message | We will seize all private schools, and convert them into public schools. Instead of plaicng more burden on public schools, we are doing the opposite. We are putting the underused, exclusive private schools, with their expensive facilities, to good use. Private schools do not have the same objectives as our public system does; they are individually focused and profit-seeking. If all schools are under a single, public system, then our students will be able to learn and grow more efficiently. Again, instead of weakening the university and college system, this bill will strengthen them. The application process will be uniform, universities will be able to collaborate more easily, and we can use the wealth of the entire nation to expand private universities. Capitalists should not be profiting off our youth! In fact, this bill was developed by Comrade Eric Blair, the Minister of Education and Culture. We need a comprehensive public education system to provide for the growth of all classes, especially the poor and marginalized of society. |

Message | IC- There is no evidence what so ever that private schools are "underused". I would argue the opposite, that state schools are overused. The private establishments take the burden off the state schools. The quality of education from these schools differ considerably. In general the private schools provide a better service to their clients than state schools. OOC- if we ever discuss the real world we do so OOC (Out Of Character). |
Date | 16:03:37, October 17, 2007 CET | From | Beluzian Workers Party | To | Debating the Nationalize Education Act |
Message | How exactly to individuals learn better in public schools than they do in private schools? Why would parents choose to pay tuition for the children to go to private schools if they learned better in free, public schools? And what gives the State the right to seize private property? |
Date | 21:46:42, October 17, 2007 CET | From | Communist Party of Beluzia and Bailon | To | Debating the Nationalize Education Act |
Message | Education is not the only reason parents send children to private schools. Going to a private school gives students an advantage for the college admission process, and there is a great amount of prestige. The actual quality of education is almost always similar. The price of a private school is a reflection of the owner, not of the education quality. The State has the right to seize property, because it is the organized voice of the people. If the people did not want State involvement, they would not vote for parties asking for State involvement. Using your logic, what right has the State to do anything? |
Date | 22:55:07, October 17, 2007 CET | From | Beluzian Workers Party | To | Debating the Nationalize Education Act |
Message | Indeed - what rights does the State truely possess, if any? I can appreciate the elitism arguement, but surely an outright ban would be excessive. Maintaining a private school system without providing full or partial rebate of school taxes means private schools do not take funding away from public schools. This bill, as is, would only serve to remove educational options for children, not improve their education. |
Date | 01:07:06, October 19, 2007 CET | From | Communist Party of Beluzia and Bailon | To | Debating the Nationalize Education Act |
Message | If you argue that the State has no rights, why are you even a parliamentary party? Why do you bother with government? The State has the power granted to it by the people. We are elected parties, and the Communist Party heads the Ministry of Education. We should follow the people's wishes and nationalize the educational system. Why should higher quality education go to the few? We could have a single educational system for the good of the entire nation. |
Date | 17:03:44, October 19, 2007 CET | From | Beluzian Workers Party | To | Debating the Nationalize Education Act |
Message | I am a parliamentarian for precisely that reason: to restrict and restrain the power of the state. And the Liberals are also part of the Government, and will express our view on whatever subject is under disscussion. Obviously, since we continue to be elected to Parliament, at least some Beluzians do not wish to abolish private education institutions. |
