Message | The legislature in Jelbania has switched its number of seats several times, but 501 has been the number for many more years than the others. We believe in better representation for our people through more legislators and we want to do so in a way that positively reflects the traditions of our great land. A population of 160,651,741 people need more than 100 representatives. We call on every party to support this measure. This will not increase costs as the budget will remain the same. This will force the government to reign in excessive spending and get rid of wasteful bureaucracy. |

Message | As we use a proportional system of representation the arguement that we need more representatives to better represent the population is false. Bearing in mind the strength of devolved government in this nation, then these devolved governments are institutions where citizens should go to discuss issues with a representative. Federal government is primarily concerned with foreign issues, budget issues, and questions of devolution, it has no real role with which to aid the average citizen. As it for it not increasing costs, that is nonsense. Of course it will increase costs, by at least five fold, unless representatives take a massive pay cut, and no new staff are employed in the national legislature. Furthermore 501 has often been in use in this nation, but generally only when French parties have been in the ascendent. When Non-French parties have influence, generally the number of seats in the national legislature have been reduced, recognising the role of the devolved institutions, and reducing the number of pointless politicians. |

Message | We do not support any increase in the budget for this proposal. We must work with what we have already to make this transition work. |

Message | Then UCC how will it work? Are you really saying that Members of the legislature are to have their wages cut fivefold? What about the support staff for each member? Are they to receive massive pay cuts, or are members going to have less staff? Furthermore if we have five times as many members, but do not make five times as much resources available to them, how are they going to deal any better with the public? Basically we are asking for five times as much, with the same funding as before, it can't possibly work. |

Message | We will be proposing a separate bill that ensure that Assemblee members work on a part-time basis for only a small stipend. There will not be a need for large staff. This will encourage true citizen-legislators, rather than career politicians. |

Random fact: In cases where players introduce RP laws to a nation and then leave, Moderation reserves the discretion to declare the RP laws void if they appear to have fallen into disuse. In particular, please bear in mind that a player who is inexperienced with Particracy role-play and has joined a nation as the only party there should not generally be expected to abide by RP laws implemented by previous players who have been and left. |
