Bill: Provision for Special Assistance Units
Details
Submitted by[?]: Alorian Free Democrats
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2473
Description[?]:
In order to safely defuse intricate situations, I believe it is necessary to introduce new specialized police units. These teams would be used in operations where ordinary police officers are out of their depth, and specialized training and equipment are required. Without assistance, officers can inadvertently cause additional danger to themselves, the public and the suspects. For your consideration, -Ted Novy, Minister of Internal Affairs |

Message | One of the reasons we changed our vote was to support our long time ally, the AFP. We're coalition builders, SLP. But we've found you difficult to work with. "Principle" is a good reason to vote for or against something. But depending on the importance of the issue, there are other reasons to vote for or against something too. The Living Wage is our crowning legislative achievement, for example. We'd be very unlikely to ever vote against that. It's too important of an issue for us. But whether police forces can have special firearms units is a less important issue to us, and one we feel we can compromise on to help an ally, or build political capital, or whatever. It's not really personal. It's just how we prefer to operate. Maybe you're more concerned with principle than we are, and that's fine too. Just different approaches to politics and policy. |
