Bill: Creation of a National Energy Enterprise Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Communist Party of Beluzia and Bailon

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2475

Description[?]:

It is common sense to have a National Post Office, because multiple mailboxes per house, and the chaotic transfer of mail through multiple channels would be inefficient. The same logic applies to electricity production. A national electricity enterprise will manage electricity more efficiently, keep prices lower for Beluzians and Bailonians, and ensure that every Beluzian and Bailonian has access to energy.

MessageSo, private courier services are less efficient and provide a poorer quality of service than government mail? That's news to us.

Nationalizing the power grid might make sense (although it should be in local government hands), but power plants can operate efficiently as individual generators, since they sell their power at market prices rather than artificially-low costs that led to inefficient use of electricity.

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play".
