Bill: Free Visa Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberty Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2478
Description[?]:
"Zardugal is a vast land. The Liberty Party doesn't see why legal foreign nationals can't come here and reside permanently. Of course, they'd all be subject to regulation if they wanted to become citizens, but if we grant all foreign nationals permanent visas upon request, millions of foreign nationals could pay taxes to their foreign government while spending all they're money here. As non citizens, they wouldn't have access to our public institutions, so they won't become drain on the system either. The vacuum they'll create will mean a massive boost for the economy, as not only corporations are experiencing massive sales, but their difference cultures and the sheer number of them will mean many more businesses will start up, which means more jobs for Zardugalies and the foreign nationals. Being foreign nations, and not citizens, if they broke our laws they'd be deported as soon as possible. We'd have the best of both worlds." ~Ruben Memorial, Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister |

Message | "If a certain level of foreigners in our country is reached, all others have no need to integrate since there's already that much foreigners here to live within that community witout getting in tuch with the native Zardugals. That's why we support quotas for permanent residing foreigners." |

Message | "It is not business of the State to regulate Zardugal's culture. We only support the free market and Zardugali Liberty. This act will allow for massive economic development whilst not flooding our nation with legal citizens who pay tax, therefore having access to the bloated welfare and public institutions the Regulation Bloc of your organization and the Communist Party have forced upon Zardugal. Perhaps if we did not bloat the public sector so far it would be sensible to open the borders for new citizens, but the Zardugali economy would collapse if that happened, therefore the Liberty Party offers the best of both worlds: more people to work and buy our products, without the cost of dealing out welfare for them." ~Ruben Memorial |

Message | "My only doubt is: There will be work for everybody? If not crime will raise, if yes taxes will raise. Its on the line, and since there are nothing sure, i would vote no for now, but that might change in future." |

Message | We can't let foreign nationals come in and steal jobs from our own nationals because they are willing to work for less. |

Message | "The Communist's raise a valid point, though as we have no provision for a unemployment benefit, even if we did they're not citizens so they wouldn't be offered one, I doubt foreign nationals will stick around very long. Besides, as foreign nationals, if they did commit the most insignificant of crimes they'd be deported right back home on the spot. The Irish Party's point, however, is not valid at all, but riddled with flaws. If the jobs are low paying and there are people out there that will readily work for less then the average Zardugali would, guess what, the market's going to take that labor overseas anyway. This way we can at least ensure those factories will remain here, at home, with profits going to Zardugalies, with Zardugali owners and managers. We're taking advantage of trend in the free market." ~Ruben Memorial |

Message | OOC NOTE: Forget to talk about the Communist's suggestion that taxes will raise if the economy grows.... IC: I'm not sure why any party would raise taxes while the economy is booming. I know Communism is associated with and will cause economic recession, but I didn't know the Communist's actually intended for them to happen. And with all due respect, I doubt your Party's economists care whether the economy is booming or imploding, under Communism taxes will always be high. |

Message | We didnt mean a tax percent raise, but a tax income raise, since there are more workers who pay taxes. |

Message | "They would pay far less tax then the average Zardugali citizen, just enough to pay for the roads and other limited government services provided in Zardugal that you don't have to be a citizen to have access too. It's unreasonable to charge foreign nationals tax for services not offered to them, like universal health care. Why would income tax revenue be bad anyway, if we're running a surplus we can cut taxes." ~Ruben Memorial |
