Bill: Defence against dangerous cults act of 2477

Details

Submitted by[?]: Tribal Revolutionary Council

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2478

Description[?]:

A cult and a religion are too very different things, while religions are responsible and peaceful, seeking only to increase their folk. While we must regard a cult as a religion gone rouge. Anything faith that falls into these categories shall be regarded a cult.

1: If any religion spots promoting itself lawfully, or becomes violent, the government shall, in right of thought and law, regard it a cult.

2: If any religion violates it inherent political naturality, and becomes a front for and/or a funder of any political movement, the government shall, in right of thought and law, regard it a cult. Political parties (example: the union of progressive Ulama) may have religious motivation. Example: a Imam may not tell his flock to vote Ulama because it would violating the neutrality of Islam, but the union of progressive Ulama be a "Islamic" party.

3: New religions that have not yet proven to be civilised, shall be regarded by the government, in right of thought and law, as a cult until proven innocent. NOTE: In this case the religion shall not be actively persecuted, but shall effectively be on "trial run".

4: Religions which violate human right in their ways, the government shall, in right of thought and law, regard it a cult.

5: Any religion that calls for holy war against another religion or a political movement and/or ideology (example: a holy war against communism), shall be regarded by the government, in right of thought and law, as a cult.

6: Any religion that enforces it's own laws on it's followers violently, shall be regarded by the government, in right of thought and law, as a cult.

7: Religions that are anti-Semitic, shall be regarded by the government shall, in right of thought and law, as a cult

8: Large Religions such as Islam and Christianity shall not be regarded as cults, only cultish sects within them shall be persecuted.

In faithful loyalty to the nation, the Socialist Workers and Soldiers League submits this law to the Grand Majelis of the United Majatran Republic of Socialist Al'Badara.
Long may it's freedom live.

MessageWe don't see why not. It will save many people who are not cultish, but seem to be cultish. Strict guidelines on cults are a very good idea.

MessageWell, when it comes time to write the new version:

"1. If any religion spots promoting itself lawfully ..." Huh? What does this mean?

2. Is fine. Not all Muslims will vote UPU, for instance.

3. Reverses the onus of proor. Groups, like individuals, should be innocent until proven guilty.

4. In general that's OK, but human rights are understood differently by different people. Some would say Christianity violates human rights if it accepts the death penalty. Other would disagree. This is a bit of a "slippery slope" clause.

5. Holy war if defined as violent struggle, sure. Jihad as defined as political struggle against a godless ideology is within the bounds of acceptable religious behaviour.

6 and 7, yes. Islam is not anti-semitic, although admittedly some Muslims are. Same for Christianity.
