Message | Unemployment rates are high in our country, this is a fact. By the law as it stands, these people, unemployed through no fault of their own save that they live in this nation, are being left with no income. They become homeless and starving. We mustn't allow this to continue. |

Message | What's wrong with the current legislation? Also...how do you know that it is through no fault of their own? |
Date | 00:08:30, November 05, 2007 CET | From | Judicial Union Party | To | Debating the Welfare Amendment Act |
Message | We have high unemployment rates. This means there are not enough jobs to go around. Some people, even if they want to work, will not be able to because of this lack of jobs. |

Message | That still does not answer the question I posed to you. Also...could it be because we have no tariffs? |
Date | 02:37:31, November 05, 2007 CET | From | Judicial Union Party | To | Debating the Welfare Amendment Act |
Message | Tariffs will raise the price for the consumer, which will make it further difficult for unemployed and poor people to have a reasonable standard of living. The current legislation will only support people for a given amount of time. If a person has, unluckily, not found a job by the end of the period, their benefits stop, and they are left with no income. That couldn't be right. |
Date | 03:09:31, November 05, 2007 CET | From | Rightist Party | To | Debating the Welfare Amendment Act |
Message | Could it be that the lack of tariffs drove the companies they were working for out of business? |
Date | 03:30:31, November 05, 2007 CET | From | Judicial Union Party | To | Debating the Welfare Amendment Act |
Message | Undoubtedly some did. Ultimately, however, it will make the remaining businesses more competitive, and provide for a stronger Tukarali economy which will provide jobs. This is a long-term goal, and will require sacrifices. For this reason, we provide these benefits, ie to soften the transition between a protectionist and a free trade economy. |
