Message | If we allow all refugees to enter, then we'll create an immense burden on this country. Where will they live? How will they support themselves? Even if the government doesn't dole out relief, then will they just set up shantytowns in our cities? Unfettered immigration of refugees is simply untenable. |

Message | Refugees are a fact of life. We have a duty as a nation to take our fair share of refugees. Unfortunately, the available proposal options do not seem to include taking a reasonable proportion of refugees, it's kind of an all or none thing. Our position is clear on this matter, we will accept a reasonable proportion of refugees (the proportions should be determined with reference to nations' population density) and we will provide targeted aid (English lessons, shelter, food, education for children, healthcare) to enable refugees to participate in society and become economically active. In the absence of an option that equates to our position, we will maintain the status quo and vote NO. |

Message | The status quo is a ridiculous burden on this nation. We simply cannot expect to shelter untold millions that wash up on our shores. As generous and humane as it is for us to accept all these refugees, let us think realistically. Moreover, I would ask what refugees are not the victims of extreme circumstance? If a person is applying for refugee status, then they should obviously be seeking refuge from something as the name implies. If not, then why can't they follow the regular immigration like everyone else? |
