Bill: Endangered Animals, December 2483
Details
Submitted by[?]: Computational Intellect Project
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2484
Description[?]:
Private ownership of endangered animals is the best protection for them. We never worry about cattle becoming extinct because of their status as valuable property encourages their existence. (RL situation: Kenya merely banned elephant hunting between 1979 and 1989, but the population dropped from 65,000 to 19,000, while on the other hand, Zimbabwe legalized the private ownership of elephants, and since the elephant population there has increased from 30,000 to 43,000 because people protect their private property) |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government's policy regarding the keeping of endangered animals.

Current: Only zoos or zoological institutions are allowed to keep endangered animals; all other forms of keeping or trading in endangered animals are forbidden.
Proposed: Everyone may keep endangered animals, but the trade in, and the ownership of, endangered animals is strictly regulated by the government to prevent their extinction in the wild.
