Bill: "Public Decency" in 2485
Details
Submitted by[?]: Alorian Free Democrats
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2485
Description[?]:
It is not the place of government to intrude in the lives of citizens to impose morality, nor is it the task of national government to shuffle every issue down to the local level. We propose an adjustment to the following two laws, which are belittling and old fashioned in their current form. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The right for a person to prostitute himself or herself.
Old value:: Prostitution regulation decisions are left up to local governments.
Current: Prostitution is legal and a recognized profession.
Proposed: Prostitution is legal and a recognized profession.
Article 2
Proposal[?] to change Displays of public affection and obscenity laws.
Old value:: Local governments may regulate laws on public acts of affection and obscenity.
Current: Sexual intercourse is illegal in public.
Proposed: There are no laws regarding obscene public acts.

Message | No, this is *removing* legislation that is basically a solution to a problem that just did not exist. Except perhaps in the prurient minds of the most conservative members of the public. |

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections. |
