| While the government does not seek to interfere with the keeping of wild and dangerous animals as pets, relying upon charitable agencies to offer help and advice to those wishing to do so, there is a need to ensure these animals are not a danger to other people. |

Current: The government maintains a list of dangerous wild animals which may not be kept as pets; other wild animals may be kept as pets.
Proposed: Wild animals may be kept as pets; the owners of dangerous wild animals must take the necessary measures to ensure they can't escape.
