Bill: Freedom of the workers act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Communist Party of Hobrazia

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2489

Description[?]:

This bill is to ensure that the workers of Hobrazia are not subject to oppression. Striking workers are striking for a reason and in our view should not be fired or subject to arrest or sanctions during industrial action. It is also our belief that all workers have a right to seek industrial action though in important public sector industries some service must continue.

MessageIt should not be that certain categories of workers provide minimal service. "Slow-downs" hurt everyone more than any strike could. However, we would like to see a proposal that all workers have the right to strike in your nation.

MessageWe see your point however if for example the all the health service went on strike then surely it should provide a minimal service as it is essential to society.

MessageSometimes strikes are not because the corporation bullies the workers, but the workers bully the corporations. What if, for example, air transport corporations suddenly faced increase cost, and thus had to reduce the pay for its mechanical workers. If these mechanical workers went on strike to try and get their pay back, the corporation would be completely unable to increase their pay, and the complete stoppage of service would result in the bankruptcy of the company and the unemployment of workers who could not get new jobs very easily.

If the company had the ability to fire the workers, they could quickly fire the strikers and hire new workers. This is not exploitation or wrong, because the strikers put the company in danger where no compromise was possible.

MessageThe needs of the people should be put before that of any corporations. Even the government

MessageThe point is, irrational strikes will result in the destruction of corporations, and with the high employment rate, the suddenly unemployed workers will have nowhere to work. They will become heavily burdened by the losses of their jobs which are caused by unreasonable demands.

Random quote: "Capitalism and communism stand at opposite poles. Their essential difference is this: the communist, seeing the rich man and his fine home, says: 'No man should have so much.' The capitalist, seeing the same thing, says: 'All men should have as much.'" - Phelps Adams
