Bill: Political freedom bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Communist Party of Hobrazia

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2489

Description[?]:

This bill is an attempt to increase the proposals allowed to be proposed by a party as we feel nine is not enough. Thsi law disallows the possibility of radically change in the country and is thus a way of curbing small parties who wish to enable the public to see what they stand for.

MessageWe do not support this. Increasing the number of proposals increases the risk of overwhelming the political process and damaging the Country.

OOC: The reason the numbers are set as they are is due to the problems we have suffered in the past. The current allowance is to stop "bill flooding" and, more importantly, to stop (or at least try and discourage) parties from creating massive single bills with many proposals which tends to lead to problems. The 9 quota is quite usable and the quota is replaced over time so there is never really any major difficulty in gaining visibility as long as the proposals are used correctly.

Random fact: The influence a bill has on elections decreases over time, until it eventually is no longer relevant. This can explain shifts in your party's position to the electorate and your visibility.

Random quote: "No man has ever been born a Negro hater, a Jew hater, or any other kind of hater. Nature refuses to be involved in such suicidal practices." - Harry Bridges
