Bill: Deregulation of Space Act, 2100

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal Imperialist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2102

Description[?]:

Although we would greatly have prefered to have been able to propose these changes to the preceeding bill of a similar nature, apparently "the period of debate is over" and so we cant. We hope that *most* of Parliament can agree that these measures are sensible, practical and acceptable without the massive risks involved with the dangerous proposals but forward by the Liberty Movement. We believe that these proposals will allow the Government to launch vital satellite programmes and to ensure the safety of private satellite programmes, without unnecessarily stifling the private sector.

ADDENDUM I

The Government may contract the private sector to launch articles into space in the same way as a private individual or organisation.

ADDENDUM II

The Government reserves the right to deny permits to companies which it deems to have unsafe operating proceedures.

MessageAlthough the Civic Democrats are currently seatless we fully support this measure as part a healthy regulation of the space industry to ensure the continuation of safety and security for space flight.

MessageWe would appreciate this bill more if you would remove explicit comments insulting our movement. I do not think it is appropriate for a compromise bill to be insulting certain parties. It would be good parliamentary practice to remove the comments directed against the Liberty movement.

MessageThey are partisan insults, and you should be ashamed to include partisan insults in your bills. I will therefore be glad to see this fail, despite any merits of content that it might have had.

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play".

Random quote: "Democracy means simply the bludgeoning of the people by the people for the people." - Oscar Wilde
