Bill: Prison Reform
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Atheist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2489
Description[?]:
If we want to solve the problem of overcrowding and deter criminals then we need to make prison less enjoyable and make people pay for their crimes. How can a Murderer - Someone who takes another life - deserve to keep his own? The education of prisoners is only draining our national budget of funds that are needed elsewhere. Making able-bodied prisoners work will serve as a deterant to other criminals. Hard work will do more for the country than educating prisoners. |

Message | The OGP finds this bill outrageous. State-sanctioned killing is not part of our platform nor is the prevention of rehabilitation and the incorporation of slavery. Sen. James Summersdale |

Message | rehabilitation programs have a far bigger effect on minimizing residivists than longer jail times which have been proven by numerous research programmes. longer jail sentences serve only to sate the wish for revenge by the collective. let us give long jail sentences, but give the inmates every opportunity to rehabilitate into the society once they have finished their jailo sentence. we oppose this bill |
