Message | Again with the no advantage. If the CWFP has their way, the streets of Likatonia will be knee deep in garbage. That's the problem with a "local government" posture.... it has no guarantee that "local government" will do (or will even be able to do) anything. |

Message | Actually, garbage disposal would be much more EFFICIENT at the hands of local governments. I mean, the Federal Gov't is just TOO BUSY to pick up garbage in EVERY MAJOR CITY in Likatonia. Therefore, the rational choice would be to let LOCAL governments take the burden. |

Message | P.S.: If local governments neglect their responsility to clean the streets of garbage, then the people won't elect them at the next Mayoral election. |

Message | The central government is not limited in size - how can it be too busy for any task? |

Message | Oh where to start. The central government doesn't actually pick up ANY garbage. It tells other people to do it, and makes sure they comply. Thus - the amount of garbage picked up is hardly limited by centrality. On the converse side - local governments are not accountable any higher under this proposed abortion of a law, and can simply let garbage pile up if they choose. The argument that the market will take care of it (in this case, because they will be 'elected out' next term') is typical libertarian wishful thinking - and thus absolute rubbish in the real world. In this case - literal rubbish. Why do we say that? Simple - YES, you CAN elect out the bad government that didn't clean up... but in the interim, you're swimming in shit. |
