Bill: Charte Ouvriere
Details
Submitted by[?]: Option Citoyenne
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2492
Description[?]:
The call of the working people of Rildanor goes out for a more just and egalitarian society. This Charter will create industrial workplace democracy in industries throughout the Province of Rildanor. If democracy is to mean anything, it must mean more than voting every few years. it must include economic democratization, giving people control rather than trusting in an "invisible hand" of market ideology. This Charter removes the ability of corporations to arbitrarily fire those workers on legal strikes, thus protecting job security. It authorizes nationalization of the major industries by the state, acting on behalf of the people of Rildanor. It introduces in all businesses a worker council, democratically chosen by the employees of each business, empowered to play a role in management of corporations. The changes proposed will incur a cost. This would be financed by an increase in the corporate income tax rate, which still leaves corporate tax at a very low level in the global context. |

Random fact: Moderation will not approve a Cultural Protocol request within the first 48 hours of it being requested. This is in order to give other players a chance to query the proposed changes, if they wish to do so.
