Bill: Living Will Act
Details
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2039
Description[?]:
Every human being ultimately owns hir own life and body. But why, then, does the state take into it's hands to decide when that life should end? This bill provides a method for any sane adult Telamonian to prescribe what medical procedures should be employed to save their lives, should that be necessary, and under what circumstances the treatment should be ended. |

Message | We can support this bill provided that stringent checks and controls aare put in place to ensure that abuses of this policy do not occur. The ending of life is a very serious thing and whilst those whose quality of life is rapidly deteriorating without hope of recovery should be able to end it at a point of their choosing, we must guard against abuses such as those of relatives seeking to kill off the individual for reasons of inheritance or whatever other motive they may have. |

Message | Yes. The living will should look just about like an ordinary will (two witnesses, clear formulations etc). |

Message | In all cases will the living will be checked in the same way that a testament is if one heir thinks it is invalid. No mistakes will be accepted. |

Message | These safeguards seem to be enough to win our support. |

Message | Life is sacred once we start killing people medicinally we may as well stop all medicinal research |

Message | Selhurst: What does sacred mean in secular terms? I recognize that every person has an undeniable right to life. But that is a right, not an obligation, correct? And we will not allow the killing of anyone who hasn't explicitly told us that that's what /s/he want's or who isn't basically dying already. |

Message | After accepting of this bill, lots of suicidal teens will go to hospitals :) |
Date | not recorded | From | To | Debating the Living Will Act |
Message | They already do. After takeing a drug cocktail that hurt their brains. And after the bill is passed the hospitals will still not kill those teens. Firstly because most of them are too irate to write a will and make it valid. Secondly even with a living will all a person can do is cancel treatment. If they want to be shot they still must go elsewhere. |

Message | Oh, and all doctors have taken the Hippocratic Oath. That would prevent them from killing off healthy patients even if we would submit a much stronger euthanasy bill. |
