Bill: Military Reform Bill of 2492
Details
Submitted by[?]: SocLib '82
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2493
Description[?]:
These provisions will protect Hutori from aggression by furthering the message of peace and neutrality in foreign events. Other nations currently have no reason to strike us with chemical, biological, or nuclear attacks and if terrorists were to do so then a response in kind would be impractical due to the rogue and mobile nature of terrorist organizations. Terra must know where Hutori stands, and that is for DEFENSE. We do not conduct any offensive operations and never should unless there is a grave and imminent danger to our nation. The provision in this bill that demands all citizens to serve a term in the military or a civilian national service will increase our defensive capabilities at the local level and instill national pride and honor. We cannot be aggressive, we must remain committed to peace and justice. Strength can be acquired through peace, and it must if Hutori is to survive and persevere. |

Message | Objections to all of the articles. The world is much safer with nuclear weaponry around... The last article is against personal freedom of our citizens. The best form of military force is profesional army. |

Message | This bill would not erode personal freedom by requiring citizens to do their part for our nation for a short, limited time. The world is NOT much safer with nuclear weaponry around and that argument is so flawed it's ridiculous. The idea that Hutori should hold weapons of mass destruction to defend against some arbitrary enemy that does not even exist is beyond the pale. It is quite clear that this bill only has a remote chance of passing by removing Article 6, but we will do it. Another bill will be proposed that requires our citizens to either serve a term in the military or civilian national service. |
