Bill: Vendor License
Details
Submitted by[?]: Saiserist League
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2494
Description[?]:
"The fact that anybody can sell food in this country will lead to a spate of food poisoning, and a deterioration in quality of Zardugal's fine foods. It may even cost tourists. Yet the solution is simple. Simply institute a license determining who can sell food to ensure such rights are granted only to those who are competent and professional, much in the way of driver's licenses or liquour licenses." -Dmitri Vladimirovich Feterokov, Chairman of the Revolutionary Socialist Party |

Proposed: Food may be sold by licensed vendors only, and shelf lives of foods are enforced.

Message | "Well, let's say goodbye to informal country markets, which sell some of Zardugal's finest food and are an integral part of Zardugali culture. Just another victim of excessive regulation and government power." ~David Hill, Member for Karasi, a rural electorate in East Zardugal |

Message | I think this is a small step too far. |

Message | We honestly don't see why this is such a radical proposition. We force people to demonstrate that they are capable of operating a motor vehicle before we allow them to drive one, we force them to demonstrate they are capable of handling a firearm before they are allowed to purchase one, but there is no need for someone who is selling food products to our nation to prove their competence? |

Message | "No, because it's unnecessary. As long as people know how long the food's being on the shelf for, they can make their own decision to buy it. They don't need another level of Central Government bureaucracy to make another decision for them." ~David Hill |

Message | "Incompetent or unscrupulous people dealing with food are far more dangerous than a drunk teenager behind the wheel." -Daniel Vladimirovich Feterokov, Chairman of the Revolutionary Socialist Party |
Date | 03:11:54, December 01, 2007 CET | From | Liberty Party | To | Debating the Vendor License |
Message | "The fact is this is impossible to enforce, and if we really tried to enforce it, Zardugal's only food source would be massive supermarket chains. Over regulation drowns small business." ~David Hill |
