Message | Simply put, public transport is a government department. It should be fully maintained and functioning whether there are enough payees or not, because the "user-pay" system inevitably sends public transport systems into a financial death spiral. |

Message | "And what do we tell the people who don't use public transport? What do we tell the millions of rural farmers who've absolutely no use for public transport? They still pay tax!" ~Michale O'Donnell, DM for the rural electorate of Soloman |
Date | 09:07:03, December 01, 2007 CET | From | Saiserist League | To | Debating the Progressive Public Transport |
Message | "You know, it seems to me that it is the government's duty to keep the buses running and the metros on time. Yes, it's another application of tax, but almost all taxes taken from people are spent in a manner unrelated to them. What does we tell the rural farmers whom we're taxing to pay the salaries of the Head of State and other government employees, whom they probably don't care very much about? The proper question in this matter ought to be, why are we punishing the people who have to use public transport?" -Daniel Vladimirovich Feterokov, Chairman of the Revolutionary Socialist Party |
Date | 13:38:54, December 01, 2007 CET | From | Irish Party | To | Debating the Progressive Public Transport |
Message | No. I'd agree to a partial subsidising, but not fully. |

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map. |
