Bill: Regulation of the Trade in Sex Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Novy Smer Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2103
Description[?]:
Prostitution should be legalised and regulated by the state. Prostitution can never be eliminated and by legalising the trade we can control it. This would enable us to control when and where prostitutes may 'ply for trade' and the cleanliness of brothels. The taxation of a prostitute's income becomes possible. Regular health checks for sexually transmitted diseases would improve public health. |

Message | We think prostitution should stay illegal to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and other STDs; therefore it is an issue of the state. |

Message | Frankly, the most successful way to eliminate "dirty sex" is to keep prostituion by the way of pimps illegal. It is to say, the prostitution of women, for the financiary advantage of the pimp, should remain illegal, since it's basic indentured servitude. This not only distributes the money into the wrong hands, but it forces the prostitute to lose motivation for her work. However, in several countries, it's already proved successful, and outstandidly clean, to host a series of prostitutes in roadway/highway hostels and motels. Normally, the institution acts as a normal restaurant/bar, and when men - normally blue collar workers - go to eat, the prostitute picks up a client there. The prostitude, through a prior arrangement, had already rented a room in the motel, perhaps indefinately, allowing her to take her client to that room. Normal procedures, even without the law forcing it upon them, is to shower the man prior to sex. Moreover, condoms are also standard procedure through this institution. It's perhaps the cleanest form of prostitution, and it should be what is legalized in this country - prostitution based on freewill, and prostitution based on roadway hostels. Furthermore, protitution should not only be made legal, it should be made a JOB. The fact is that the woman is working for a wage, which means it's by official description, a type of work. Consequently, it should be taxed, AND the woman should recieve pensions from the government, as do all other types of workers. The Junker Party believes that this is the correct stance to take. |

Message | We do not believe Aldegar is ready for this; it would destabilise the social fabric. We are also concerned that young, vulnerable people would be lured more than ever before into the sex industry, with negative consequences for their well-being. |

Message | We will have to (for possibly the first time) disagree with the Democratic Alliance, and vote for this proposal. |
