MessageAldegar needs a professional, full-time army - not masses of young conscripts who will enter the service with the attitude of 'I'll be out in 18 months time'. We would support civilian national service, but not military national service. Young people should find jobs or be studying in education/learning skills - not wasting their time on pointless assault courses.

MessageThis has already come up for debate once. On the one hand, it will reduce crime dramatically. On the other hand, it will put their education back by 18 months. We believe that University and a longer education are crucial, moreso than a conscripted army. Army is a choice, it should not be forced on people. What of the religious who don't believe in killing? The pacifists? The people for whom a year and a half in the army would completely end their career, such as musicians, dancers or sportspeople?
