This bill outlines comprehensive and critical reform of the Axis Mundi Likatonia Res Publica's immigration laws that will (a) secure the border to halt ILLEGAL immigration, and (b) at the same time increasing LEGAL immigration to ensure a productive economy for the people. The plan is as follows: (1) The resolution mandates that no ILLEGAL or undocumented worker can receive public benefits like Welfare, Social Security, etc. since they logically do not pay payroll or income TAXES to the system. (2) The National Government constructs a STEEL double-border fence with BARB WIRE across the entire [landed] Likatonian border. A border fence is critically necessary because it preserves and protects our border for the, first of all, obvious reason of preventing immigrants from crossing into the country ILLEGALLY. If Likatonia rewards people for crossing into our border illegally, how long do we expect it to be when Native-born Likatonian criminals take advantage and violate and break the rule of law in the country??? Second, border security is one and the same with National Security because it prevents members of Luthori and Lodamanse terrorist network(s) from manipulating the whole "immigration crisis" on LNN (Likatonian National News) and having Lodamanse & Luthori terrorists "disguise themselves" as immigrants seeking work. (3) Streamline and SIMPLIFY the Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS) by requiring that a PERMANENT Immigration port be installed on the border so that if one wishes to contribute their economic, cultural, and social PRODUCTIVITY to the "Land of the FREE & Home of the Brave" (Likatonia), all that is needed to become a Citizen of our Likatonian Family is a relatively simple & CUT-n'-DRY "litmus test," if you will: (a) Pass a Public Health Background Check; (b) Pass a Criminal Background Check; (c) Pass a Proficiency Exam in ENGLISH, the National Language of the Likatonian People; The whole problem with the immigration debate is that the Conservatives don't realize that the only reason that immigrants actually cross into the border illegally is that the bureaucracy of the INS is broken and it takes like 5-10 years or perhaps even more to become a "Legal Resident." Therefore, as common-sense dictates, if we just simply make it easier for Luthori, Rutanian, and Lodamanse immigrants to come to our country LEGALLY, then they won't cross into the border "illegally." Now, I would push for a "Likatonian History" Exam as requirement for citizenship due to my ambitious nature since that would only assist Immigrants to be more PRODUCTIVE civil servants and voters. However, to be perfectly honest, like 70% of [Likatonians] probably do not even know who were our nation's first President & Vice-President, so should we hold Foreign-born Nationals to another standard than Native-born citizens??? Therefore, this legislation makes a "Citizenship Exam" NON-binding. However, a requirement of ANY immigrant coming to this nation MUST be proficient in the ENGLISH language. Now, that is neither a "racist" nor "discriminatory" position. In fact, immigration enhances our economy because when they arrive to this country, they come with that Entrenpenuerial Spirit that drives capitalism. For example, if immigrants cannot speak the common language of the Likatonian people, trade, commerce, and general bargaining would become chaotic. However, it must be specifically noted that this bill does NOT make English the "official language" of the Republic but rather allows it to be our NATIONAL language. The CWFP is ADAMANTLY opposed to "official language" legislation b/c then citizens cannot get voting ballots in their native language or cannot speak to a 9-1-1 operator in their native tongue. (4) As Likatonian History 101 verifies, the influx of Legal immigrants to the "Land of the FREE and the Home of Brave," only enhances the Likatonian Capitalistic system. Nonetheless, I believe that under my comprimise plan, you can truely say that "in SPIRIT and in TRUTH," we can approach this issue "without either amnesty or animosity(haha)." Indeed, Likatonia doesn't have a national language - indeed, if the CWFP had done their homework, they'd know that Likatonia is largely three different ethnic groups. We have no national language, because we have three languages in common usage - none of them this 'English' of which the CWFP speaks. Given that the CWFP just failed basic Likatonian history, it seems the height of hypocrisy to expect immigrants to pass a test that at least one party would be unable to master. |

| Message | TDP, I did NOT say that English was the *de jure* OFFICIAL language of Likatonia. Rather, it is just the *de facto* NATIONAL language (but "unofficial"). In other words, official documents from the State are available in ALL tongues. However, the MAJORITY language that the people speak by "default" is ENGLISH as evident that the ALL of the Convocations' proceedings have been in English. The CWFP has absolutely no intention of making English the "offical" language of the nation. Also, you MISread the bill b/c it does NOT require that immigrants pass a "history exam" but only English Proficiency exam. Again, this is common sense: if the majority of the country speaks in ENGLISH, commerce and business trade in the society will be chaotic with people speaking all unknown languages. |

English is for our convenience - it has no relation to the day-to-day workings of Likatonia. IC: If we have a de facto language, it would be Shkoldran - not English. But we've consistently not had a de facto language. Likatonia thrives on it's internal diversity. That's why such a little nation has had a history of being so powerful. So - 'English' exams are irrelevent. Shkoldran exams would be ridiculous when a third of our OWN population couldn't pass it. Also - regarding 'history exams' - the CWFP said "I would push for a "Likatonian History" Exam as requirement for citizenship". That's what we are addressing with our comment. |
