Bill: Sekowo Population Bill (2496)
Details
Submitted by[?]: Normand Pluralist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2496
Description[?]:
Recently, we in Sekowo raised the age of retirement because our working class was small in relation to our non-working (young and old) populations. Currently, Sekowo has a dangerously low growth rate of 0.3% per annum. We believe that population growth would, in the long run, help stabalize Sekowo's labour shortage, as well as make Sekowo more influential internationally. To this end, we recommend Sekowo cease distributing free contraceptives. Not only will this increase the population growth rate, but it will also reduce government expenditures, reducing government costs. |

Message | We support encouraging population growth, but we don't support stopping our contraceptive program. Not everyone who has sex is ready or wanting of children, especially teenagers, and lets face it, it can be embarressing for them to buy them. |

Message | Well, even though I'm against abortion, sence it is legal here thanks to you, they might as well use it. |

Message | Abortion has been legal in Sekowo since before the DSP was founded, so we cannot take any credit for it. Beyond that, while we support abortion in all cases, except for designer babies, we do think that it should passively be discouraged, as in not to use it as a 'quick fix'. |

Random fact: "Treaty-locking", or ratifiying treaties that completely or nearly completely forbid any proposals to change laws, is not allowed. Amongst other possible sanctions, Moderation reserves the discretion to delete treaties and/or subject parties to a seat reset if this is necessary in order to reverse a treaty-lock situation. |
Random quote: "A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks." - Thomas Jefferson |
