Bill: Doctor Malpractice

Details

Submitted by[?]: Irish Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2497

Description[?]:

"Doctors have an extremely difficult task every day of their lives, and they probably work in one of the most under-rated professions in this country. I think it's important that we reduce these pressures. Of course doctors who make mistakes should always be held accountable, but bringing them to court and making them stand in front of a judge who knows nothing about the workings of a hospital is the wrong way of doing it"

- Dr. John Pepper, Irish Party's Minister for Health Candidate.

Message"Obviously senseless litigation against anyone, doctors in particular, is grave and unwanted. But there are instances, far too many, where a malpractice suit is justified, and we cannot strip our citizens of the right to use the legal system to seek their rights. The Irish Party's motives are in the right vein, but it will cost more of our national soul than we will gain in doctor alleviation."

Message"If doctors are fighting lawsuits left, right and centre whenever they're trying to heal, then it'll affect their ability to work. If they don't have to fear this, but still work to a high standard, surely that's for the best for our nation's health!"

Prof. Steven Jones, Rald Party Spokesperson for Health and Social Services
