Bill: Gun Control Compromise & Reform Act of 2496

Details

Submitted by[?]: Kapitalist-Arbeitsfamilien Partei

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2497

Description[?]:

First and foremost, the CWFP enthuisastically applauds the Convocation for taking the critical steps in ensuring that the People of Likatonia are granted their most CHERISHED right: the Right to SELF-preservation & to bear arms.

cf. http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=159450

Unfortunately, however, the bill that was originally proposed by the AMI Party FAILED by a razor-slim margin to pass and was thus defeated. Therefore, we have done the liberty of RE-submitting the gun control bill that takes into account the concerns, questions, and reservations that was raised in the DEFEATED bill the following "Amendments":

AMENDMENTS:

(1) The word "permit" in this bill is specifically defined by the Act to simply require that while citizens unequivocably have an INALIENABLE right to keep and bear arms, they must get a TRAINING permit where he/she is properly trained on how to efficiently use a gun by a trained police officer.

(2) This bill specifically authorizes ALL gun manufacturers to properly equip MANDATORY trigger-locks and "Laser-Aims" on all firearms before they are brought to market.

Thank you for your full support.

MessageWe are supporting for the moment, but if it turns out that ours is the vote that carries it, we will abstain, to avoid any reference to so-called inalienable rights on our statutes.

MessageWe cannot support the right to own arms. There is no evidence that allowing widescale gun ownership will reduce crime levels and in fact, its more likely that a greater increase in crime will come from increased gun ownership, not to mention gun-related accidents.

SGP, read the book "MORE Guns; LESS Crime" by John R. Lott, Jr. The Statistics will ASTOUND you (haha).

[IC]

AMI, your previous bill that legalized gun ownership failed so we are just trying to COMPROMISE so that it will pass.

Message{OOC} CWFP re: More guns, less crime. Compare the number of gun crimes per capita between Britain (no guns) and the US.

And then read "As Used on the Famous Nelson Mandela: Underground Adventures in the Arms and Torture Trade" by Mark Thomas. The statistics will break your narrow paradigm.

MessageWe oppose the first article, we oppose the third article. The second could be an option, but not poisoned by the others.
