Bill: The Konstantin Reichsohn Memorial Bill (ii)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2501

Description[?]:

We liked this bill so much, we are going to re-run it.

We encourage voters to think about the advantages of the POW clause, before dismissing it.

"The returning of POW's is a strategic measure. Every POW held in Likatonia requires food, shelter... even guards. If we hold the POWs, we have to feed them, clothe them, shelter them - guard them. All at our own cost, and we gain little advantage.

On the other hand, if we allow our adversary to come and collect their own soldiers, they have to pay for transport, they have to spare the men to do the transporting, and the vessels required. Then they pay to feed, house, etc their own POWs, until they have them debriefed, retrained and redeployed.

This could easily take each POW out of the war for - maybe - half a year, and compels the adversary nation to take care of them for the whole time they are out of service.

There are other advantages if one thinks about it... the great psychological effect it will have on the citizens of the adversary nation, for example... the morale effect on their soldiers, and the fact that we never have to worry about escapes, or deal with our own people fussing about POW camps being located nearby."

Message(1) "...and we gain little advantage."---TDP

Actually, the detaining of POWs gives us one SMALL-but-BIG advantage: Our Generals and troops get CRITICAL & VITAL intelligence information that can lead to the arrest or capture of other enemy troops and/or assets.

(2) Why should the National Government delegate the responsiblity of NATIONAL defense to LOCAL governments???

(3) And Likatonia should have NO intelligence agency??? Are you mad (LOL)? We need such an agency to collect information on terrorist activities and other governmental secrets from the Lodamanse.

Message1) How are we getting this critical but vital information that is your 'small-but-big' advantage? Keeping people in prisoncamps is necessary for questioning now?

2) Why should national defence devolve to local government? Well, if for no other reason than the fact that 'national defence' is really just a lot of local defence.

3) I'm sure we can find other ways to get our information, without direct espionage.

MessageWhile we are at it, can we propose a national "pull down our pants, bend over and roughly take me from behind Mr Keymon" law?
