Bill: Budget proposal of June 2497

Details

Submitted by[?]: Scientific Libertarian Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2498

Description[?]:

The Secularist Libertarian Party proposes a ridiculously huge defense budget increase, more than doubling it, to reflect increasing tensions in the region and the fact that we have a very large surplus. Even with this proposed change, we will have a surplus, but it will be much smaller.

MessageWe support a defense budget increase but find the proposed number far too high.

70b? 80b? We could support those numbers.

Whilst we feel strongly about national security and defense we cannot condone spending so much money on instruments of war.

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election.
