Message | we strongly oppose, respect of life means restoration of the death penalty? |
Date | 19:49:59, December 08, 2007 CET | From | Social Liberal Party - D.L.J. | To | Debating the Respect for Life Act |
Message | We see this as a horrendous contradiction. "Capital crimes" are not defined here, would it include just murder, treason, terrorism? We are concerned that the definition could easily be extended to other crimes in order to quell peaceful opposition to the government, those who deviate from social "norms" &tc, so we could never support. |

Date | 11:10:07, December 09, 2007 CET | From | Bloc Militaire pour Restauration | To | Debating the Respect for Life Act |
Message | we don't see a contradiction between the two articles. By giving murderers the death penalty, the state shows that taking innocent lives is the most serious crime and must not be lightly committed |

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature. |
