Bill: Military Shake-Up
Details
Submitted by[?]: Alorian Socialist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2106
Description[?]:
Below are proposed modification to the military that we believe are nessasary: 1. Firstly when people talk of national defence they dont talk about local authorities, we need to ensure that our civil defences are consistant and well funded across the nation, so I move for a nation shelter policy. 2. All our defence industies are privately owned, this is dangerous as it can allow foreign interferance in defence and put the seeking of capital ahead of the protection of the workers, therefore I move to nationalise components of our defence industry for security and reliability. 3. Shockingly we have no intelligence agency, we are a dumb nation and this must not be we must build a national intelligence agency to keep an eye on other states and terrorists, we have been attacked by some for having a poor policy towards preventing terrorism, this should remove that issue! 4. Again I move for the police to have military backup should they require it, we cannot allow officers to defuse nail bombs, we need to allow trained proffessionals to aid them, like our military bomb diposal officers. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We support all proposals apart from porposal 4. That has recently been failed by this Parliament and the ASP is trying to sneak it in again. |

Message | Might I ask why the Freedom party oposes a National shelter system, and why most people oppose the military supporting our police, this has never been fully debated. We have removed the intelligence proposal in light of recent legislature that will undoubtably pass. |
Date | 16:14:10, August 30, 2005 CET | From | Freedom Party | To | Debating the Military Shake-Up |
Message | The Freedom Party fears that the legislation concerning the police and military has too many loopholes. We fear that the military could be called in when a very large protest occurs or such similar things. On the matter of a National shelter system, we believe that every region has different needs because of a different location and that it should be up to the people of each region how (or if) they wish to protect themselves against a nuclear (or other) attack. For example, the people of Gavonshire might simply want to have shelters in their backyards, whereas the people of Kurmal might want to gather in the subways and the people of Ultran might want to construct special bunkers. |

Message | All protest in Aloria is totally legal including large demonstations so the police would never be used to prevent the protest and so the military would never be called in, unless someone changes the right to protest legislation the military being used against protestors would never happen. The problem with local goverment deciding such things is that you might not get equal protection or everyone using the right methods. If we have a national system then the best system can be used to ensure that everyone is protected. |
