MessageWe absolutely oppose this bill. Local governments should retain the right to determine for themselves how best to manage the issues presented in articles 2 and 4.

MessageLocal governments are much more aware of their particular needs and abilities than the federal government is. They should be given the choice of dealing with matters in a fashion which best suits their needs, resources, and particular traditions.

MessageIn an attempt to get the NPP to change their vote on this crucial issue, I'd just like to try and point out some wholes in their logic on this issue. While we agree that in some cases, Local Government can have better knowledge and is thus more suited to decide policy, but public transport and sports clubs don't tend to vary a lot from region to region in how they are run. What issues could face a region that would mean it would have to deviate from a national policy of user pays? It couldn't be anything like large amounts of people on low income, because that would be subsardized.
