Message | We must oppose this bill because of article four; the UUP believes that abortion is a right for every woman. |

Message | As you all can see, we agree with the women´s right to perform an abortion. However, it is almost a crime to commit an abortion after the first trimester (that means after the fourth month). By that time, most of the baby´s organs are almost fully developed and he has cerebral activity. We believe that a woman, if she wants to perform an abortion, has more than enough time to decide in 2 months (we assume that women realise that they are pregnant after a month (and you would be fools to say that it isn´t so!), therefore, out of the first 3 months, 1 is used up for the discovery of the pregnancy). This law could make the difference: we could accept the way things are now and have our conscience stained or we can try to make things better, to spare innocent lives! |

Message | The UUP respects the NLP's position, but we disagree profoundly. The UUP believes no life is innocent, especially not so if it is unborn and therefore not a person. We also strongly feel the mother, and not the state--not even the father, must bear her own conscience for abortion in these matters. It is not the state's place to save the mother's soul; if aborting her child is a sin, then it is on her head, not the state's. And since a fetus is not considered a human being, aborting a fetus is not murder by any law we know of and therefore a fetus cannot enjoy the protections given to living citizens. We would also not impose on a woman's right to choose what happens with her body. For all these reason, we must oppose this bill. Incidentally, we also believe that the government should protect its people from disease and that vaccinations should be mandatory for children. |

Message | Its unfortunate that these four articles must be lumped together as our opposition to relaxing enforcement of child vaccination and our misgivings with more stringent abortion restrictions force us to vote nay. |
