Message | UCC, why would you oppose subsidizing phone service for low income families? As it is now, small businesses are at a disadvantage, as we cannot guarantee them a "level playing field." How will the employer contact his employees, and vice versa, if they are trying to pull themselves up by their bootstraps? That is, trying to escape poverty and benefit the local economies at the same time by starting a small business. |

Message | We are against most subsidies from the central government. We wish low-income families would seek help from churches, charities, non-profit groups, family, or friends. |

Message | In an effort to compromise with our coalition partners in DLJ - if the NBP (or any other party) proposes a new bill with just articles 1 and 3, we will support it. We do think there needs to be some standards for advertising. As for article 3 - we can support subsidies for low-income families as long as the rates are not regulated. Our cabinet has diverse views, and as the holder of the presidency and the largest number of seats, we feel responsible to compromise in certain areas for the good of the nation. |
