Message | Also, this would be a huge burden on small businesses. |

Message | "'That much money'? It's simply a proposition to allow workers with families to avoid falling below the poverty line, where nobody should reside. There is a great sense of disproportion in the National Directory. We haggle over minor percentages to tax off the millionaires yet when it comes to ensuring our poorest yet hardest-working citizens avoid absolute poverty it is ridiculous and greedy on behalf of workers. Even small businesses should be able to pay a worker enough so that he or she can avoid poverty." -Chancellor Karl von Friedricht |

Message | "This bill allows for ALL workers to support a family of four. Even if worker's did have a family of four, perhaps they should have thought about how they were going to support four children before they brought them into the world. Of course, your thinking would be that business should be forced to pay for their large, unplanned family. Business just won't do that! If this was ever to pass industrialists would simply invest in other countries. You'd drive business, big and small, from Zardugal forever!" ~Michale Tucker, Shadow Finance Minister |

Message | "Elitist reactionaries never change in their bigotry. They'll shout 'Freedom' to the skies but they also openly advocate that only the wealthy should be allowed to have a basic family unit without falling below the poverty line. A family of four is hardly a large, unplanned family, and everyone, rich or poor, deserves to be able to have it without falling below the poverty line. Incidentally, businesses are already leaving because labor is cheaper in Third World countries and the these same reactionaries won't allow tariffs to make the businesses stay. Nothing but endless circular reasoning..." -Tomas Buretchoff, DM |

Message | But what if the worker doesn't have a family of four? You're telling corner shops to pay teenagers enough to support 4 people, when all they want to do is to be able to afford going to the cinema every so often or just shopping with their friends. |

Message | Teenagers usually aren't paid 'wages' in the classical sense, so that is hard to legislate. It will also encourage the hiring of more skilled labor, of people who really need the work. Other bills we have proposed are attempting to ease the burden students have to pay so teenagers don't have to whore themselves out for miniscule payments trying to pay tuition. Even small businesses should be willing to pay something reasonable, even to teenagers. If they are indeed working full-time, they should be able to earn enough money to stay above the poverty line, remember that the poverty line is: lacking to meet the basic needs for healthy living; having insufficient income to provide the food, shelter and clothing needed to preserve health. That hardly seems unreasonable, or too burdensome on business. |

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election. |
