Message | DMC's are highly inefficient and would be economically damaging. To encourage their formation would be foolish and, as some like to believe, in the unlikely event they are efficient then subsidising them would not be necessary so would be a waste of government funds. |

Message | We have it on good authority that DWC's are efficent in other nations throuhout the world and actually increase production and it is our belief that workers will work harder if they are working for themselves rather than for some boss or ceo. |
Date | 20:37:48, December 22, 2007 CET | From | We Say So! Party | To | Debating the workers bill |
Message | We have not seen any reports proclaiming increased productivity from any DWC operations compared to standard employment facilities. At best they can maintain production levels however their efficiency vis-a-vis standard facilities is generally much lower due to the increased bureaucracy required to make any decisions and the lack of willpower of many to be involved in those decisions leaving those industries controlled by the Council slower and more cumbersome. Moreover, the business is still a private organisation and we will not support the provision of public funds to support private business operations that do little to improve services to the public as a whole, to do so would be a waste of funds. |

Message | The benefits of dwc's are shown by the president of barmenistans message in our nations messages. If we do not adopt dwc's then we run the risk of falling behind our neighbours. Also it our belief that dwc's are the only fair way to run a buiness as it gives the workers a say in the running of the company. |

Message | Interesting though the message from our neighbour is, and we do not doubt the sincerity with which it is meant, it must be noted that Barmenistan has only recently returned to their policy of supporting DWC's, and even then it was a policy put in place as a compromise between two major political parties in order to withdraw from a treaty. We will watch with interest their experiment however we are not convinced that using public funds to support such a policy is worthwhile considering the massive cost to the taxpayer to support such a policy. Forcing, or in this case providing government funds to encourage, businesses to become DWC's is a waste of public funds. They are private companies and as such should not receive tax exemptions nor should the government "encourage" their formation as it places them with an unfair economic advantage. If they are competitive let them be within the structure of our competitive and ever expanding economy. If they are uncompetitive then let them fail, as any other business would within our economy. |

Random fact: Cultural Protocol bills must provide a real-life equivalent or short description for the ethnic groups, languages and religions contained in them, such that it would be easy for an unfamiliar player to understand (e.g. "Dundorfian = German"). Where appropriate, they should also provide guidance to players on where to find help with translations and character names. This might include, for example, links to Google Translate, Behind the Name's Random Name Generator and Fantasy Name Generators. |
