Message"Whilst we are for federalism in almost all instances, there are some areas we are very iffy on. Environmental issues is one we are not willing to delegate to local levels, and this one sparks an interesting train of thought. While of course we want to allow local people to decide how to preserve their local heritage and whether it deserves preservation, the problem is it may extend well beyond the local area. Nevertheless, it hardly seems fair to allow a central authority to dictate to the people of the area how they should treat their land and history, so we're ultimately in favor, though it gives me a good gut-wrenching feeling."
